Wellington Swords's fencer, Chris Hay, has won a British title at the recent British Youth Epee Championship in Stoke on Trent.
Chris had an excellent competition, starting in devastating form, crushing his opponent from the East Midlands 15/1.
He continued through the rounds to the final winning 15/9, 15/10, 15/6 against opposition from Southern, West Midlands and Wales respectively.
There he met David Burnside of Northern Ireland. Chris maintained his focus to dominant the final 15/9 and become the 2009 British Youth Champion.
Wellington fencers Jenny McGeever, Sophie Townsend and Luke Edbrook also competed in the event for the South West, finishing in third, sixth and ninth respectively.
